Holy Apostles Pre-school Spring and Easter Activities March 2023

At Holy Apostles’ Pre-school we had lots of fun activities planned for the Spring term.

Discover all the playgroup activities for toddlers and pre-schoolers we took part in for Spring and Easter below.

We learn how to grow cress

We started thinking about signs of Spring and new growth, so we each were able to plant our own cress seeds to take home and watch them grow. We learnt about what plants need to help them grow!

Charlie carefully sprinkled his cress seeds onto some damp cotton wool which he had put in a yogurt pot. He said he would put it on a sunny windowsill at his house. We asked the children to send us in photos of their cress as it grew!

Creating Mother’s Day cards

Our next activity was making Mothers’ Day cards. We had a pre-cut card of flowers ready to decorate however we chose! We had felt tip pens,

tissue and pompoms to make our cards special for our Mummy.

The decorating takes a great deal of concentration and of course we choose our mummy’s favourite colour!

We also practised our best hand-writing to sign our names in the cards. Parents emailed photos of special people for their child to share at carpet time. We looked at them on the pre-school computer at carpet time.

Baking Easter Treats with a microwave

We all enjoyed making Easter nests with chocolate and krispies. We discovered that chocolate melts when it is heated in the microwave and then we were able to stir in the krispies. We spooned the mixture into paper cases and then carefully counted 2 mini-eggs and 1 chicken to complete our nests.

We definitely agreed that the best part of the activity was when we were allowed to lick the spoon or even our fingers!!

Easter Egg Hunt in the Pre-School Garden

Our final fun activity was an Easter egg hunt in our pre-school garden. We were given a picture of a patterned egg and were told that there was a matching egg hidden in the garden. When we found the matching card we were able to trade it in for a chocolate egg!

I think everyone agreed we had had a fun time with a great variety of activities.
