Christmas at Holy Apostles Pre-School

We have been very busy getting ready for Christmas at Pre-School. We’ve had great fun creating our own Nativity scene from our Advent Calendar, taking it in turns to add the next piece of the scene.

We have had lots of fun doing many different Christmas based games and activities throughout the Pre-School.

We created our own Christingles, which are part of the Christian celebration of Advent, with Penny from Holy Apostles Church. She told us about the different parts of the Christingle as we made them, and what they symbolise: oranges to represent the world; ribbon to remember that Jesus died for our sins; cocktails sticks and sweets to represent the different seasons and the food that we can grow during them; and finally a birthday candle to symbolise Jesus as the Light of the World.

We have made Christmas cards for our family using our handprints. We decided which type of card we made, and then created them ourselves. Here are a few examples:

We also made some Christmas Pudding treats using a tea cake, a biscuit and some icing sugar. We even added a little decoration on top!

We have, of course, been busy practising our Nativity for the performance at Holy Apostles Church.
